CREAM INJECTION MANIFOLD

Point Engineering was contracted to design a rigid manifold to distribute cream to a series of injectors, for injection into cake bars.

  • The new manifold was to replace a series of existing flexible hoses, with the primary purpose of improving access to serviceable components mounted above the centre of the conveyor. The position of the existing hoses presented a safety hazard as maintenance personnel were required to reach out over the conveyor to perform routine tasks.

To ensure an even distribution of cream into each cake bar, each of the three tubes was designed to have the same pressure drop, resulting in the indirect path taken by the two inside tubes. All components were constructed from stainless steel to meet food hygiene requirements, and welds were assigned the appropriate category in accordance with AS/NZS 1554.6. Quick-release tri-clamp fittings were used at the inlet to the manifold as per customer requirements.

  • Point Engineering was responsible for the mechanical design and drafting of the new manifold. A site-based measure of the existing components was completed to obtain accurate measurements for use in the design.
